How to order








Please read our full Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy before placing an order with us as they form part of the contract between us. 





Placing an order


Before placing your order, you can take as long as you like to browse the products available in our store and 'click' on the links provided, as required, to help inform your choice of product.  Please note that we cannot guarantee that your computer browser and monitor will exactly reproduce the full colour range of our yarn products.

To purchase any of the items in our online store, simply click the 'Add to shopping basket' button shown on each product page.  You can return to the shopping basket at any time to check the contents, change the quantity of items you intend to buy and remove any unwanted items as desired.  

When you are happy that you wish to place an order to purchase the product or products in your 'Shopping basket', click the 'Check out' button.  We will ask you for the payment details, delivery address and your email address which we need from you in order to process your order and we will send you an email confirming receipt of your order and containing the details of your order. 

All items offered on our website are subject to availability.  If an item you have ordered is no longer available, we will contact you by email. 

We will indicate acceptance of your order by sending you an email to confirm that your order has been processed and despatched to you.  

For safety reasons your order’s data are not accessible via the internet.  We keep these data in confidence according to our Privacy Policy. 

We accept orders from, and arrange delivery to, the following countries or Regions: United Kingdom, European Union and we are pleased to state that from 1 January 2018 we are again able to accept orders from Non-European Union countries of Europe and the Rest of the World countries or regions as listed below:

Rest of the World: Australia, Canada, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China, Japan, New Zealand and the United States of America.

EU Member States are currently: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. 

European Non EU countries are: Faroe Islands, Iceland, Norway, Russian Federation, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.





Currency and tax


All prices are in United Kingdom (UK) Pounds (£) Sterling and include UK Value Added Tax (VAT) at the appropriate rate.  Some of our products such as books are presently zero rated for VAT and no VAT will be included in the price we display for these items. 

If you are shopping from outside the UK, please place your order in just the same way as described above and your payment card company will convert the transaction to your own currency.  This will be shown on your next card statement.  Please note that your card provider may charge an administration fee which is your, not our, liability to pay.






Delivery charges are not included in the prices quoted.  When you reach the 'Check out' area of the online store you will be asked to pay an additional charge for delivery.  The delivery charge includes the cost of postage and packaging and a handling charge for processing your order.  

The delivery charge will depend on the total value of your order and on the country to which your order is to be shipped.

We accept payment by most major credit and debit cards.  Card payment is made by providing your card details online in the 'Check out' area of the store.  

You have the option of paying by HSBC Secure ePayments or by PayPal.  HSBC Secure ePayments is a secure payment provider service that ensures your card details are encrypted when sent over the internet so that they are not visible in clear text to any other party operating on the internet.  Attica will not see or hold any record of your card details.  To pay by HSBC Secure ePayments, select the 'HSBC' option under 'Payment method' on the shopping basket page.  When you pay by HSBC Secure ePayments we will not effect the transfer of funds from your account to our account until your order has been processed and is ready to despatch.

Alternately you can pay by PayPal.  PayPal is a safe, fast and secure way to pay online.  Your financial details are never shared with us by PayPal, safeguarding your bank, credit or debit card details.  You do not need a PayPal account to pay by PayPal, all you need is your email address.  To pay by PayPal, select the 'PayPal' option under 'Payment method' on the shopping basket page.  When you pay by PayPal the transfer of funds from your account to our account takes place immediately.  If we are unable to meet your order for any reason, in part or in full, we will use PayPal to refund any monies owing to you without delay.  PayPal undertake to protect your purchases so just in case there's a problem you can get your money back (PayPal Terms and Conditions apply).

Please note that we will never ask you to provide any card details via email.  If you do receive an email claiming to be from us requesting your card details, please inform us immediately and do not reply to the email. 







We aim to process and despatch your order within 1 to 2 working days for products that we currently have in stock.  

For products that we do not have in stock we will inform you by email within 1 to 2 working days of an estimated delivery date so that you can decide if you wish us to proceed with processing your order.  

Once we have accepted your order, goods will be delivered within 30 days unless we agree a later delivery date which is acceptable to you.  If goods fail to arrive within 30 days you are entitled to cancel the order and receive a full refund of all the money paid by you for the cancelled goods.

UK orders are sent by Royal Mail First Class Post.  Larger value orders may be sent by Royal Mail First Class Tracked & Signed for or Parcelforce Express 48 (a signature will be required).  We cannot guarantee delivery times but Royal Mail aims to deliver 94% of First Class Post by the next working day including Saturday.

Orders for European Union countries will be sent by small packet Airmail (up to 2 kg) via Royal Mail.  Orders of value £25 or over will be dispatched Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed.  Orders in excess of 2 kg will be sent in more than one packet, each weighing less than 2 kg.  We cannot guarantee delivery times but Royal Mail aims to deliver Airmail to EU countries in 3 working days. 

All orders for Rest of the World countries will be dispatched Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed.




Cancellation after delivery


You have the right to cancel your order and to receive a full refund if you notify us within seven working days (starting the day after you receive the goods).  This is to allow you time to see the goods at first hand and to decide if you want to keep them.  It is not dependant on the goods being defective in any way. 

If you decide to cancel your order we will then refund, within 30 days, all money paid by you for the goods.  Refunds will be made direct to your credit or debit card account, not in any other way. 

It is your responsibility to give notice in writing, by email, fax or letter, of your wish to cancel within this cancellation period.  We will provide you with confirmation that we have received your notification of cancellation of your order and we will provide you with a 'Return Number'. 

You are under a duty to take reasonable care of the goods for return.  You will be liable for the cost of any loss or damage in respect of goods for return. 

The goods must be returned in an unused and re-saleable condition, in the case of yarn with unmarked and undamaged labels and free from physical damage or noxious odour.  

The cost of returning goods cancelled after despatch will be borne by you, not by us. We cannot accept liability for returned goods lost or damaged in transit so you are advised to package the product carefully to avoid damage and we would recommend for your own protection that you use a recorded delivery or courier service.  

You must include your name and address and the 'Return Number' when you return goods to us for any reason.  

If you do not dispatch the goods back to us within 7 working days following the day you received them then you should make the goods available for collection by a courier service nominated by us and you will have to reimburse us for the full direct costs we incur in arranging collection by the courier. 

When you place an order, details of your cancellation right will be sent to you with your confirmatory email.
